Retina, 2002

Styrofoam, plastic, programmed incandescent light, 10′ x 10′ x 40′
Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena, CA

Retina was a model of the visual system. I programmed the lights to illuminate the separate synaptic pathways from the rods and cones back to the optic nerve, showing viewers the cellular structure that they themselves were using to see the artwork.
