Periscope, 2012
Roto cast resin, solid core optical fiber, programmed LEDs, looping and dynamic video.
207 Boren Avenue North, Seattle, WA on the campus of Amazon.com
created in collaboration with Daragh Byrne and Joshua Rosenstock
Commissioned by Vulcan, inc.

“Periscope” is my vision of what a fragment of the internet might look like – a web of glowing fibers and screens giving a glimpse into other worlds, growing inside technology building complexes. I was inspired by the idea of a periscope, permitting observation of remote locations, which metaphorically suggests our ability to virtually observe the simultaneous linked activity of people and sites all over the world and from multiple points of view. Joshua Rosenstock and Daragh Byrne created dynamic content for this piece, each artist’s program plays on a dedicated monitor.

Thank you to Adam Brown and the amazing people at AFX
