For "how my parents met," I interviewed everyone who knew my parents in 1962: relatives, college friends, roommates, and also my siblings, who retained various confused versions of stories we'd heard as children. Before I made this drawing, I thought of memory as an archive of past experiences. I now view memory as an elastic narrative of the way in which the past informs the present, a story that is continuously rewritten.
